DaltronX is an award-winning South African manufacturer of high-performance tungsten carbide cutting picks, drill bits, drill steels, drill tubes and spinning adaptors. With over 30 years of expertise and more than 90 million conical picks supplied globally, DaltronX is a trusted leader in carbide tooling for the mining, road construction, trenching and foundation drilling industries.
Operating from a state-of-the-art 25,000-square-metre facility in South Africa, DaltronX manages the entire production process end-to-end. The factory houses two of the largest cold-forming machines in the southern hemisphere and an advanced induction brazing facility, with an annual capacity of 10 million cutting teeth. Cold forging produces a denser grain structure, delivering superior durability and precision, even in the toughest operating conditions.
DaltronX holds patents for its electric upsetting process and innovative bulb/washer design, with independent testing showing its drill steel ferrule design withstands over 100% more force than local competitors. Field tests in South African coal mines have also demonstrated a 20–30% performance boost from DaltronX mining picks.
The company serves customers through five product divisions: DX-Mining (cutting picks and sleeves for continuous miners, longwall shearers and road headers), DX-Road (picks and holders for road milling, asphalt recycling and stabilisation), DX-Trenching (picks for surface miners, chain trenchers, rock wheels and terrain levellers), DX-Drilling (drill bits, drill steels, tubes, spinning adaptors and accessories) and DX-Foundation Drilling (picks for piling rigs, auger drills and rotary drilling systems).
DaltronX is ISO 9001:2015 certified and holds Level 2 B-BBEE status, reflecting its commitment to world-class quality and economic empowerment in South Africa. With dedicated teams serving Africa, Australasia and the MENA region, the company combines global distribution with custom-engineered solutions tailored to each customer's needs.
